On behalf of LD Resources Foundation (LDRFA), the learning disabled individuals, students and their families that we support; we applaud you for signing into law A.8262/S.6581, The Bipartisan Dyslexia Legislation to Address Common Learning Disability in Students.
Your action to enact, and the tireless advocacy of Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon and Senator Martin Golden to introduce this bill will improve the awareness of and understanding of dyslexia impacting thousands of students in New York State.
This law will enable educators, academics, and neuropsychologists to clearly specify the student’s learning disorder and assist educators to develop targeted early interventions to help the student improve their literacy skills and become successful readers.
Thank you, Governor Cuomo, for the recognition of this important legislation and its impact on the lives of thousands of New York students that struggle with reading each day.
